Looking Back, Moving Forward

This time last year, I celebrated the first of many milestones that was in store for JKID in 2010. My baby, Avec Nightclub was born out of the solemn ashes that would remain after having been laid off from my dream job and feeling completely deflated, but not undetermined to reach the first of many lifetime goals before the impending 30-year mark. As an aspiring, ambitious, and often delusional design student at the Art Institute of CA, I swore that one day I would conceptualize and create a dance club space that would rival any of the ones that I grew up around, having partied in Orange County since '94 (ogeez I'm old) and feeling like none were up to particular par.

Today, Avec Nightclub in Huntington Beach stands as the most successful nightclub venture that has spawned out of Orange County in 2010, selling out to thousands of partygoers every weekend and featuring top notch DJ's and entertainers from around the world. I could NOT be a prouder mama as my baby is now a BONA FIDE FORCE to be reckoned with and from the looks of it, she's nowhere near slowing down ladies and gents.

For the record, neither am I :D

Global Warming

When the weather hits a seasonal low and I'm stretching to reach my sartorial high, I immediately turn to piling on the patterns for a look that's mixed and matched to peak perfection.  Burnished golds and crimson tides create a combo rich in culture and rooted in royalty, not to mention screaming CHIC on cameras akimbo.  So before surveying which look to lock in the new year with, consider this:  Has Karl Lagerfeld ever gotten it wrong?  My thoughts exactly :D

Winter Wallflowers

Seasonal funk got you wishing for summer fun already?  Borrowing looks from fashion to the home front, rely on romantic patterns and tons of color to combat the grays and kick blues to the curb.  With the sudden drop in SoCal sun, I'm packing on bright florals to freshen my outlook and cozy western wear to comfort from the cold.  If it's haute enough for Anna Sui, it's definitely haute enough for lil' ol' me!

Since I've got the reno on the mind and barely a buck to get this puppy started, what better way than to start in lala land and get my inspirational fix from Gossip Girl on hiatus?  Trying to channel my inner upper-east-sider and fix the pad up with modern art against muted walls and saturated jewel tones to anchor every vignette.  Hmmm...from double-story studio to posh penthouse status?  Might as well seduce a single Penn Badgley while we're at it no?...*sighs*...a girl can only dream....

Pedal to the Metal

Christmas down, only 1 more holiday to go! Gosh, are y'all as anxious as I am to get a wrap on these festivities and get a move on already? Soooooo looking forward to new digs {currently on the drawing board to renovate my own}, new look {gotta shake things up a bit}, and a whole new approach to JKID and Haute Khuuture 2011 {when I say "JK", you say "All Day!" Oh man, y'all are gonna get soooo sick of me by Summertime *fingers crossed * ;D}.

Where I spent 2010 simply indulging my silly whims (i.e. reality television), 2011 will be reserved for taking this purpose-driven life to a whole 'notha level! Starting with the most pressing of matters: Dude, what am I gonna to wear for NYE?!?

Huntington Holidays: The Reveal!

Thank you to all my readers, friends, family, and colleagues for making Haute Khuuture such a crazy delight to revel in every single day. We're going on over 8 months of this little pet project and I have to say there's NO way that I would have continued if not for the enduring support y'all have sustained during the show, after the {mini} breakdown, on the road to recovery, and now throughout the dailies of life in the land of Haute Khuuture. Your comments mean the world to me and every day I thank my lucky ducky stars that I get to do what I LOVELOVELOVE for a living and bring it to you for only a fraction of the cost ;D

Cheers to yet another year of bringing you the BEST of the BEST...and as promised, here's the ultimate sneak peek of the reveal before the reveal. I'm no pro-tographer so these images will have to suffice before busting out the real guns with styling, lighting, 3d animations...you get the idea. Proper pix in 2011 fo'sho!
