Plush Pink Velvet

I remember a time when I abhorred pastel palettes like they were the pneumonic plague to my brightly-colored closet.  Seemingly saturated colors that fell ill to a virus that stripped them of a once vibrant core and now destined to be dull forever.  Shades of gray with a tint of color...overcast skies leftover from a sunset that will never be...They don't mean to dreary, some were simply born that way.  Fast forward some fashionable seasons later and I now know that it was me who couldn't realize their full potential.  Pale pinks once reminiscent of a pre-schooler's first bedroom now become the prettiest accessory next to graphic patterns of abstract art.  Pair with deep and dark color combos to yield sartorial success, pastels are meant to be prized, no longer pushed aside for lack of better, more obvious inspiration.  All grown up, albeit maturing like molasses, I can now appreciate the quiet strength of pastels during the subtleties of winter.  Time to sit back, relax, and slow down the pace a bit...
