Snake Charmer

The trick to pulling off animal print is styling in small dosages.  A little python can go a long way so keep ensembles in muted palettes and allow the print to take center stage while a contrasting mix of textures become the supporting cast.  Layer chunky knits under a light parka for added warmth and NEVER, ever underestimate the power of a little (or a whole lotta) bling!  It's the holiday season after all...maximalist mindset going full throttle y'all!

Best Hair Dryer on the Market!!!

A few weeks ago Misikko.com sent over a little care package that included everything you see here and a professional grade hair dryer that they wanted me to use and review.  Peeps be sending me stuff sporadically and I try not to get in the habit of reviewing products on the blog unless they

a)  Specifically pertain to interior design/decoration/fashion/styling
or
b)  Knock my bobby socks off.  And boy did the HANAair Premiere Hair Dryer do just that.

Boasting an Italian-inspired design with the industry's first and only operation system of 2300 watts, the HANAair's pure tourmaline crystals and ceramic heater "delivers the most advanced far infrared ionic heat" on the market today.  Which simply translates to the softest, shiniest, silkiest hair I've had in years!  Especially when I've been bottle-dying my hair for almost a decade now, my locks have been damaged over time but I'm convinced this baby will surely bring the fire back to my once borderline brassy red haute hue.

The supersonic blast of cool heat (oxymoron yes, contradictory no...you'll see what I mean once you use it) literally shaves off 20-30 minutes of blow drying time and leaves my super thick and straight Asian hair supple, flowing, and oh-so-fine.  I am in lalallallaLOVE y'all!

True story:  My bf rocks a bouffant and LITERALLY has gotten more compliments than ever after using the HANAair...his friends even asked if he just stepped out of the salon/ got a haircut recently.  He's been all smiles ever since :D  And at $200/pop, you can bet you'd get salon quality hair in the comfort and convenience of your own home.

A little pricey?  Yes.  But I swear this baby's a hair/game/life-changer y'all.  For you beauty/product junkies out there, it'll pay for itself in no time.  Or send your hunnies this link and get the HANAair gifted just in time for the holidays!

Purchase HERE and use promo code Hana10 to get 10% off any Hana purchase!

Thanks Brian for the goodies!  Seriously loving my new luscious locks!! :D

 {p.s. If any of y'all make the purchase, please holla back and let me know how it works for you!}

Peace. Love. LOL!

Food Porn Friday- Dueling Noodles

After having gorged non-stop on turkey and trimmings over the last 24 hours, I must confess that I'm officially stuffed!  Nothing washes down an over-indulgent breakfast-lunch-dinner combo better than oodles of noodles prepared in a myriad of ways.  If y'all are suffering from Thanksgiving overdose as I am this afternoon, make your way down to Bolsa and let some of these savory soups wash it all down so you can recover in time for Turkey Trot round 2...or 3, or 4!...You little heifers, I know how you do...Bon Appétit!

14291 Euclid St.
Garden Grove, CA 92843

{Pictured Left:  Bun Bo Hue:  Their claim to fame and in my opinion THE BEST bun bo in town.  You can bring your own pot for party-sized take-out or dine in for a $5 bowl of yummy goodness.  Pictured Right:  Mi Quang:  Homemade yellow noodles totally beats store-bought brands...a little more basic than ones I'm used to, but cheap and quick.  No complaints here.  Thanks to Pandy and Rich for the rec!  Definitely going into immediate rotation :D}

{Located in the ABC Supermarket strip, this noodle institution has been around for decades and this was my first time trying it (recommended from Jenny, thx boo).  Pictured Left:  Canh Bun:  the noodle bowl this joint was named after.  If you're into a very light and fragrant broth, you'll love this bowl.  I like mine pungent and stinky, especially with crab in the mix, so I had to load up on the fish sauce to achieve that taste.  Pictured Right:  Bun Rieu.  Yummy strips of cha, but not enough rieu.  I still think Cafe Picasso's soup is bomb.com and the one to beat down Bolsa}

What Bolsa dives are on your hit list??  Do share!

Hope y'all celebrate a scrumptiously satisfying weekend!!!

Harvesting Thanks

Can't believe it's Thanksgiving week already!  So much to be thankful for this year but really I'm most grateful to be spending it with family and friends.  Something about the holiday season that puts me in a more festive mood than usual.  Maybe it's all the gilded gold decorations that come out for a cameo...A flash of bling here, a bit of bronze there...nothing gets me going like some glam and glitz before November ends.

Here's to a fun and fabulous week of giving thanks and sharing the love!

Pasadena goes Posh!

The bf has been working crazy overtime lately which means there's no one to take my ensemble shots boooooooo :(  But on the flip side, that gives me plenty of time to catch y'all up to speed with what I've been up to lately.  The holidays are always my busiest time of year since everyone and their mamas wants spaces designed before guests start rolling in!  Case in point, I've been working on this hospitality renovation that's near completion and I couldn't be more ecstatic!  Located in downtown Pasadena, this hotel institution has been around for quite some time now and needed a heavy update of JKID drama and slight dosage of modern global glamour.  Here's what's on the board:

...a sexy lounge/lobby filled with ambient lighting...
...natural elements to bring the outdoors in..
...seated reception to encourage a casual welcome...
...graphics galore as inspired by the work of Kelly Wearstler...
...backlit everything and mirrored panels to accentuate the glow...
...velvet and onyx for a high contrast pairing...
...even flooring should make a statement...
...alfresco dining indoors and how to make it work...gorgeous jewel tones on fabulous furniture...
...stylized built-ins for a European aesthetic...
...and of course no JKID interior is complete without a little (or lots of) antique mirror...

I don't often talk about my work, but things are about to change around here.  I'm thinking new layout, new series, and possibly maybe even a new blog name??  It's hard enough to pronounce Haute Khuuture let alone understand what it even means to readers.  {It's Haute:  as in "oat", Khuu:  "coo"  (my last name for those who don't know) - ture:  reads like it looks}  Definition:  My personal spin on statement-making style.  Design, fashion, food, and fun!...Some things will never change.

Thank you all sooooooo much for reading!

Tune in next week to see how you can transform your home from plain to posh!

Peace. Love. LOL!
