2011: A Year in Costume

5 things I know for sure

1.       I'd rather be overdressed. Period.

2.  I am an expert at dressing for nocturnal adventures:  i.e. clubbing, weddings, cocktail hour.  Dressing in the am, I'm clueless...still trying to figure it out it seems.

      3.  When in doubt:  Look to interiors for style inspiration and fashion for interior inspiration.  They're simply the same medium dressed up in different lingo.  It's really just a matter of semantics peeps.

4.       Food is, was, and will ALWAYS be my porn of choice.

Cheers to the start of incredible adventures and amazing inspiration...Thank you all for seeing me through yet another crazy year!  Can't wait to bend and break the rules a bit in 2012...let the fun begin!

Swingin'

The holidays are all about playing dress up so my first inclination when shopping the closet is to find the piece that moves me the most.  In this case, the frock with the girliest twirls and the bounciest body takes the cake.  Wore this H&M dress out to a Christmas concert last weekend and really loved how the graduated ruffles coiled and curled with every step and shake.  Perfect for impromptu dance numbers when said concert straight turned straight into a night of clubbing with the old fogeys.  Yes, Avec I'm talkin' about you!  Holiday spirit means supporting your local community no matter what the cause :D

Whatchall got goin' on for New Year's Eve??  I still have no outfit = no plans.  It  ALWAYS starts with the dress, doesn't it??

Plaid and Proper

What I wore to the bf's family Christmas dinner:  A layered mix of everything I love all in one look... bold jewel tones to keep my holidays merry and bright...a little bit country (plaid)...a little bit rock n' roll (fur)...and a whole lotta bling to jingle all the way home.  When thigh-grazing mini's just won't work for a family event, slip on a little ruffled skirt for a touch of romance while lengthening a super short hemline.  What might be apropos for the boy, will NEVER be ideal for the 'rents...just sayin'.

Food Porn Friday- Din Tai Fung Dumpling House

 

I have never met a soup dumpling that I didn't fall immediately head over heels in lalalalalLOVE with.  Chewy on the outside, an explosion of savory soup seasoned with minced meat on the inside, seriously like a party in yo' mouth and then some.  Couple that with stir fried noodles, leafy greens, and salted filet of pork, one of the BEST meals for a cold winter's day.  You may have spied these pics on my instagram already, but I couldn't resist starting a holiday weekend off with chronicling some food porn for your viewing pleasure.
