Food Porn Friday- Miami Eats

When you’re traveling with as many gals as I normally do, it’s most prudent to keep costs down by surveying the city’s most beloved eateries beforehand, namely local joints that cater to dining and dashing, rather than shelling out beaucoup bucks for a fancy-schmancy sit-down 5-course meal.  4 days x 3 meals could really add up so we found some South Beach hotspots sure to whet your vacation appetite as well as satiate 9 famished fiends all at under $10 a pop!  Yes, these gals CRAY when they hangry, even crazier when they're fed!!! {Go figure}  Come to think of it, present company included ;D

Greenstreet Cafe
3468 Main Highway
Coconut Grove, FL 33133
(305) 444-0244

Greenstreet cafe was the perfect first meal for our trip.  We took the red-eye from LA into Miami so we arrived right when they opened at 7:30 am.  I ALWAYS crave griddle faves for breakfast and their fluffy banana pancakes totally hit the spot.  Wash this all down with a hot and milky cappucino and you're ready to take the city head on.  If you're dining later in the day, carve out some free time to shop the local boutiques around the way.  Coconut Grove is such a cute and quaint area, reminds me of what the Golden Girls must have been living like back in the day.  Never too young to channel my inner Blanche Devereaux!

700 Collins Ave.
Miami Beach, FL 33139

If you don't know Puerto Sagua, you don't know South Beach eats dude.  Heralded as one of the city's most celebrated local mainstays, serving up authentic Cuban fare to diners for over 20 years, Puerto Sagua is to SoBe what Trieu Chau is to Bolsa.  Bomb.com Mom and Pop joint that's ALL about the food.  Forget the service (terrible), forget the cleanliness (sticky-icky), forget the heels (beach bumming fosho!), come hungry, leave sooooooo dang happy :D  Must eats:  Fried Yucca and empanadas for appetizer, Oxtail Stew and Ropa Vieja, pass on the Seafood Paella (I ALWAYS order Paella at cuban joints, this one was super duper bland, no char, very runny bleh!).  Always make a reservation as they fill up from the time they open (7:30am) 'til the time they close (2am).

229 14th Street
Miami Beach, FL
(305) 532-8934
We practically lived here during our last stay (2008) since it was right across the street from our hotel.  Simple sub sandwiches with the BEST cornichons in ALL the land!  We ALWAYS buy extra jars and try to smuggle them on the plane back home ;D

Hope you're feasting all through the holiday!
Cheers to a super awesome Memorial Day Weekend y'all!
