Trendspotting: Vintage Maps

I've been itching to travel abroad since the new year began.  Dreaming of going back to the motherland this Fall (up and down the entire Vietnam countryside) with all my besties, but in the meantime allowing my thoughts to randomly drift off to destinations I've already visited and those I've yet to see.  Europe during springtime...the Caribbean during winter...wouldn't it be nice to dedicate an entire art wall to mapped locales, both domestic and international?  If you build it, he will come.  Or in this case, if you see it, you WILL go!

Food Porn Friday- Bottega Louie

Equal parts hip, downtown LA eatery, equal parts celebrity sightings hotspot...love it when Laker game nights call for early dinners of Portobello mushroom fries (MY ABSOLUTE FAVE), gourmet wood-fired pizzas (try the Burrata!), and a smorgasbord of delectable house-made desserts to finish it all off.  I swear everyone and their mamas eat here on game nights.  Ran into Brad Goreski and his boyfriend Gary whom I'm madly, madly obsessed with from their reality TV show on Bravo (soooo much cuter in person by the way).  Lakers KILLED it on the courts, Clippers cryin' in defeat...need I say more??  This is what I call one PERFECT night!

Scenes from a Refinery 29/ Hpnotiq Party in Vegas

So late last year (December 1st to be exact), Refinery 29 and luxe liquor brand Hpnotiq hosted this contest to see whose street style would win them a party in their hometown just in time for New Year's Eve.  I literally scoured my archives for the best group shot of my Skittles sisters in our boldest and brightest party frocks, uploaded that sartorial sucker to R29, begged and pleaded to all my FB family/ friends/ community/ strangers for their votes, waited week after week to see our numbers skyrocket through the roof et Voilà...Here we are, one month later, lucky (and persistent) enough to be awarded the biggest, baddest Chinese New Year's bash in the City of Sin and basking in the glory of what can be accomplished when a group of party-savvy women put their minds to it.  Who would've thunk that one little entry would cause such a ruckus??  I did, honey...knew it all along ;D Mission= Accomplished!

Year of the Dragon 2012

Happy Chinese New Year's y'all!!!  Celebrated the first day of our Lunar calendar with a quickie 2-day jaunt to Vegas with my besties...soaking in some slots action (Blazing 777's, yeah!)...picture hopping around Aria's Crystal's retail and casino (totally decked out for Dragon time)...oohing and ahhhing over Cosmo's incredible triple story Chandelier bar (having a major DIY-inspired design moment as we speak)...and finally rounding out the weekend with a Refinery 29/Hypnotiq sponsored soirée at Lavo nightclub (More on that later this week) for myself and 8 of my bestest friends.  Seriously, does life get any better than this???...

Maison de Luxe

Soooo bummed I missed out on yet another showcase at Greystone Manor in Bev Hills this year.  Every winter I make it a point to put it on my schedule, but as holiday season rolls around I'm bombarded with event after event and never seem to make it out...boooooo bad, bad designer.  Here's some snippets of the showcase as curated by some of SoCal's most FABULOUS high-profile designers.  Martyn, Mary, and Nathan, oh my!  Like a smorgasbord of Hollywood's hautest...aiming to show at Greystone one of these days...hey, a gal can dream right??
