Food Porn Friday- Duck House

Happy New Year hunnies!!!

What better way to kick start 2013 than with loads of delectable, greasy, wok-fired Chinese cuisine courtesy of Duck House in Monterey Park?!?!!  Notorious for the BEST Peking duck in town, Duck House’s claim-to-fame traditional roasted Peking duck features thinly sliced house pancakes, fresh shredded scallions and cold-as-ice cucumbers served with house-made hoisin sauce.

We ordered their house special served 3-ways with stir-fried bean sprouts and special duck bone soup conceived from the remaining duck meat.  What you get is a smorgasbord of duck (hence the namesake) and each more delightful than the last as the taste developed from the sweet/savory roast, to the palate cleansing sprout salad, and finally to the aromatically subtle soup stew.

I swear you will NEVER find pancakes so perfectly spread, like a paper-thin slice of chewy, gooey goodness.  If rice paper and homemade flour tortillas had a lovechild, this would be IT!  Friggin’ AMAZEEEEEBALLLLLZ!

Other dishes from their Lunch Special Menu:
All ranging from $5.95- $6.95- whatta steal!

{From top to bottom:  Egg Omelette with Soft Tofu in special sauce, Sliced Pork Belly with Garlic and Soy Paste, Cold Squids with Five Spices Soy Paste, Stir Fried Dry Tofu and Pork Strip, Sweet Corn Soup, Szechuan Style Eggplants in hot and spicy sauce, Shanghai Style Pork Rib in a sweet and tangy sauce, Stir-fried mustard greens}

*Insider’s tip:  They have an entire section dedicated to their “Famous dishes” featuring fresh seafood prepared in signature sauces.  If you’re dining with a large group, I say skip the lunch specials (from blah to bland and really nothing that noteworthy) and head straight for the Miso Dungeness Crab Hot Pot, Angel Hair Shrimp, or Japanese style Marinated Black Cod.  It’s all about experiencing a taste of Taiwan from the peeps who serve it up best.  If you’re still a bit clueless, let this slideshow be your guide.  Also note that you MUST call ahead (at least one hour) to reserve your duck or be prepared to wait that long once you arrive.*

TGIF!!!!
Bon appétit mes amis!
